Welcome to the Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology (BTSDT) at Uganda Christian University. BTSDT has a long history of excellence in theological scholarship, valuing our location in the wider UCU and the interdisciplinary opportunities this provides.
As one of the oldest Anglican theological colleges in the region, we have a recognized track-record in training ministers for the church, and our graduates have faithfully served across the globe. Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology’s cultural diversity invites and challenges us to be a community of learners under the cross of Jesus Christ.
BTSDT is a place where men and women are formed intellectually, spiritually, and pastorally. Our graduates are not only leaders but also agents of transformation both in church and society. To this end we intentionally call men and women of distinction to join the School. For long, we have been recognized in the region for excellence in contextual research and publications, community engagement as an expression of ministry, and teaching. The East African revival spirituality stimulates our style of teaching, research and doing theology.
The students who choose to pursue theological education at BTSDT are often passionate about their calling and are ready to explore this within the University and outside. All our theology programs therefore are carefully designed from a Christian perspective to respond to the needs of society and the present church. This is one of the reasons why a Christian perspective is infused in all your course units to help students learn to think critically and biblically in all areas of life. All our programs combine class education with field work while allowing for a flexibility in a rigorous academic environment.
Looking to deepen your theological knowledge, or wanting to be prepared to serve as a dynamic leader in God’s church? Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology is your destination of choice.
Currently, the School is headed by the Rev. Canon. Prof. Dr. Christopher Byaruhanga
