In 1903, a church leaders’ school began on Namirembe Hill that later moved to Mukono Hill. In 1913, Bishop Tucker Theological College was established in Mukono, a year before the death of the Bishop Tucker on 19 June 1914. This became the Uganda’s first theological college. In his Memory, it was named Bishop Tucker Theological College with its Motto “Called to serve”.
In 1997, Bishop Tucker Theological College gave birth to Uganda Christian University. Later in 2004, the Theology faculty was named “Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology.”
The school continues to grow and the legacy of BTTC still lives on. Bishop Tucker School of Divinity and Theology has trained church leaders from all walks of the world that are rooted in knowledge of Jesus Christ with the awareness that it is God who called them to serve, faithfully in the church and society.
